Train the brains by using flash cards

Train the brains by using flash cards

They say the best way to learn facts is by repetition and drilling yourself in the material. Flash cards are an effective tool for memorizing a variety of facts to memory.

Some people learn best by hearing information, while others are visual learners. Flash cards cater to both learning styles. For instance, visual learners see the information they need to recall on flash cards, whether in an image or a word or two. Meanwhile, auditory learners can assimilate the flash card information as it is being read aloud or as they offer a response to a flash card.

Flash cards are typically small or large with single or durable pieces of paper (card stock) depending on thickness. Words, numbers or pictures can be printed on the card which is the learning tool of school-aged children and even adults.  However, PRC Book Printing can offer pretty much many options to the size and shape of the flash cards. Since producing flash cards / playing cards are done by die-cutting the shape is almost up to you.

What specifications are needed when creating your learning instrument?

What size are the cards?  Will the cards be 4 color on one side or two sides? Will the one side of the card be the exact print throughout the print run (this can save you some $$$)? What type of coating do you want to be applied to the cards varnish, lamination or UV?  Are both sides of the cards; have this coating?  What type of edges will be on the card around or squared (this will consist of die-cutting-see our board book printing page to view die-cutting examples)?  What about a simple box to hold the cards? Do you want to incorporate a tray into your design for larger boxes to hold the cards in place?  Do you want thumb nails on your tray to make it easier to access the cards from the tray?

PRC book printing is here to assist you on quoting your project and provide you with the many options for producing your flash cards and playing cards projects.  Please be mindful when printing overseas minimum quantity order starts around 4000 to 5000 depending on the design.

Recipe to making a cook book!

Recipe to making a cook book!

The time creating a cook book, from collecting the recipes, to verifying all the measurements are accurate, to the photography, for catching the zesty flavor and actual color of that avocado or the colorful herbs on top of the seared fish, after all finalized it’s time to put everything on paper, to share your chef talents.

PRC Book Printing is here to make your cook book vision a reality!

There are many binding methods to choose: hard cover, soft cover, spiral/wire-o, concealed wire-o and comb binding.  We will assist you on the paper, lamination, board size and binding methods.

You may want to have the cook book lay flat, than we suggest comb binding, this allows the recipe readers to have the book open without the pages flipping and having to use a meat mallet to hold the book flat. Also, comb binding allows you to print on the spine. This is important because when it’s on your shelf or a book stores shelf people can read the title of the book. Most book stores require the title on the spine too.

By producing on a glossy paper will protect from splatters of water, sauce, liquids from seeping into the pages causing the 1/3 cup to 1/_ cup.

Recipes are treasures, which you want to savor for the years to come.

Let us help direct you in the production of your cook book printing project!

Soy Inks

Soy Inks

Soy Ink is a kind of ink made from soybeans. Soy inks were founded in the 1970’s, due to the rising prices of petroleum which is found in traditional inks.  Soy ink is great for Children’s book printing; these inks are safer for the little bookworms.  Soy inks are blended with pigment, resin and waxes which is a helpful component in recycling of paper because the soy ink can be removed more easily than regular inks from paper during the de-inking process.  One disadvantage for the printer using this ink takes more time to dry.

Call us for recommendation which types of paper to use with the soy inks.  Different types of paper absorb more than others.

Check out our web information tab for Children Book printing regulations from the CPSIA (Consumer Product Safety) using Soy Based inks protects you from the requirements regarding lead level safeties.

What is Resolution?

What is Resolution?

The resolution is the number of pixels or dots per inch (ppi/dpi).  The higher the resolution, the more detail is stored for the graphic, meaning the higher the resolution the higher the quality, but also the file is larger.

The most common setting for computer monitors is 72 dpi, this setting is intended for web-based or other on-screen projects.

For low end printing the normal resolution is 150 dpi, which is usually used for interior of black and white text, which do not have CMYK photos.  Example: reading novels.

For the high end, professional, photographs for great quality the resolution should be set to 300 dpi or higher.  Usually set for hard cover, case bound, photography books, cook books, children’s books, desiring sharp and clear images.

PRC Book Printing recommends for our 4 color process printing images should be no less than 300 dpi.  Please see an example instructions how to review the resolution of your image in PhotoShop:

Pull down the Image Menu and select Image Size:

Please note you cannot change a 72 dpi graphic to a higher resolution.
